How did I get to this place?
I reached out and there was no-one there.
Imprisoned in the darkness, unable to see
beyond myself and the entanglement I'd created.
Light, just a pinpoint of light was all I sought;
a guide; assurance that there was a way out.
Disoriented, confusion overcoming reason made me
cower immobile in a place I didn't want to be.
How did I get to this place?
"I am strong", I told myself; but if fell
on ears deafened by the melee of thoughts
and emotions swirling in a confused mass inside of me.
Deep into the darkness like a diver too far below the
surface, fear attempting to claim that last breath,
no buoyancy to stop my descent; plunging headlong
into an abyss of my own creation.
How did I get to this place?
"I am strong.", I repeated and this time, like
the muted blare of a distant ship in a foggy sea,
I detected the nearly imperceptible utterance.
Turning towards the sound with hope rekindled, reason
returned and with it my bearings. Freed from the
binds that held me, I moved that first step; the
one which would lead to many others into a direction
away from this place.

A Law of Success
by Barbie Zabel
Take the first step on your journey in faith even
when you don't see the whole road.
If your dreams are a bit on the blurry side, but you
have a vague sense of what you want without a
clear sense of how to get it, take the first step. Use
the momentum of your intention to get what you
want and simply begin.
You don't have to know where you'll end up or how
you're going to get there. By simply beginning, the
momentum itself will bring to you the resources,
openings, and people with perfect timing along the way.
When you begin, the path will appear, step by step.
